I have no formal training but have always had a keen interest in photography, drawing and painting.
I was born in Exeter, UK and then moved to Bath. I took art at school by not to any great level. I used to enjoy drawing with pencils, but if I tried other mediums like water colour or oils I became very frustrated as I could not get the finish I wanted.
It was very annoying to try and draw a boat and it came out looking like an oil slick. I then was given an ink pen set and started to draw in black and white. I liked a method of building up a picture just using black dots.
I liked this method, but thought it lacked colour. Again I would try other mediums but could never get it right. Then I became interested in photography and took many photographs of Dartmoor and Cornwall, where we lived at the time. (Images above are of Beer & Fernworthy)
My career was anything that artistic. I went to Agricultural college and then completed my IT degree via the Open University. I am married to Kelli Smith and have 3 children, Megan, Nicole & Dawson. We have a small hobby farm producing pork, chicken, duck & lamb - www.peggyscovefarm.ca
We moved to Nova Scotia in 2007 and I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years and then my current position is in IT and Accounts. I only recently tried again to paint and suddenly the result actually looked good. Now I have the bug and all I want to do with my time is paint!
I like to paint a diversity of things from animals to landscapes. I hope you like them!
